“The table is still open. We are not afraid. Our next two games against Western Bulls and NYS Spades will be critical in determining our fate.”
Lagat added that his team is targeting enough points from the remaining fixtures to secure safety.
“With six games to go, we are targeting 16 points, which should assure us of survival. It is tough, especially for the boys, but we will keep pushing.”
Lagat felt missed chances cost his side over the weekend.
“Both teams wanted the win. Kisii used their chances well, and we didn’t. We had six penalties in their red zone but failed to convert them, and that came back to haunt us,” he said.
“It’s strange that neither team scored in the second half.”
Kisii coach Nelvin Lumiti said his side remains on course for a playoff place.
“The competition is very stiff, but I’m confident we will achieve our target,” said Lumiti. "USIU were tough and physical, but we managed to counter them despite their size.”
