A 40-year-old man was arrested after allegedly setting his parents’ house on fire in the Thunguma area of Nyeri County following a disagreement with his mother over KSh 100.

According to residents and police, the man approached his mother at their home to request the money.
She refused, and an argument erupted, attracting family and neighbours. The confrontation escalated, ultimately leading to the destruction of the house.
Witnesses said the man left after the disagreement and returned carrying an object. It was suspected to have been used to start the fire. Soon after, flames engulfed the house, forcing his parents and others to flee. No injuries were reported, but household items were destroyed.

Neighbours rushed to the scene and attempted to contain the fire, but the flames had already spread through most of the structure.
