11 Years of Cinema: Sarah Mtalii Admits to Faking a Perfect Marriage

In a candid interview on the Alex Mwakideu podcast, Sarah Mtalii whose real name is Sarah Njoki, is the co-founder of Bonfire Adventures.

She is also widely known as Sarah Kabu or Sarah Mtalii said the problems in her marriage began in the fourth year, when she was pregnant with their son.

She said that is when she realised the relationship was no longer what they had promised each other when they got married.

Sarah told the host that she had been in the relationship since 2013, but the internet and the public were not aware of the troubles.

“Nilikuwa nimetoka mwaka wa 2013,” she said, referring to the time they had been together before the marriage, adding that the public only saw a perfect marriage from the outside.

Marriage Was “Cinema” for the Public

According to Sarah, the marriage appeared strong and respectable in society. She explained that once you are married, people treat you differently and you are given a high level of respect.

She said this respect comes with the expectation that everything is fine at home, even when it is not.

Sara said the couple had always portrayed a happy marriage publicly, especially because they were aware of how people in society perceived married couples.

She said, “11 years ilikuwa cinema tu,” meaning their relationship looked perfect and successful in public.

She added that being married gave them status and respect, and that this influenced how they behaved in public. “Unajua when you’re married you’re in the society, unaheshimika sana,” she said.

Behind Closed Doors: A Different Story

However, Sarah said the real situation at home was very different. She described how their relationship changed from being close to becoming distant, with the two of them becoming “total strangers” inside the house.

She said that even though they were still living together, their connection had broken down, and they were no longer communicating like a couple. The closeness they once shared was no longer there, she added.

Sarah said the breakdown in communication and emotional distance started while she was pregnant, a time when she expected support and unity. She said that instead of becoming stronger, the marriage began to fall apart.

New Relationship: A “Pillar of Strength”

Sarah has since appeared to move on and is currently sharing moments from a new chapter in her life.In a video posted on December 27, 2025, she was seen enjoying a relaxing trip to Nanyuki, where she appeared to subtly introduce a new man.

In the clip, she is dressed in loose white trousers and a matching top, smiling broadly as she runs toward a casually dressed man wearing denim shorts, a jacket, white t-shirt, sneakers, and a fedora.

She throws her arms open in excitement, and he lifts her off the ground, spinning her around in a playful embrace.

Captioning the video, Sara wrote: “Join me in welcoming a pillar of strength,” suggesting that she is now in a new relationship and that the man is an important support in her life.
