Kenya is represented on the African entertainment scene after former Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama and national team coach Benni McCarthy appeared in Burna Boy’s new single, For Everybody, whose music video was released on Friday.
The Grammy-winning Nigerian artist unveiled the track in collaboration with Sporty Group, featuring a lineup of African athletes from different sporting backgrounds.
In the video, Wanyama appears wearing Maasai attire, including a shúkà, lesso, beadwork and traditional jewellery. He is seen nodding rhythmically in a sequence repeated by several other athletes featured in the production.
Sharing a clip of the song on Instagram, Wanyama wrote: “We are many nations, but only one heart. Niaje Kenya, This is our game.”
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy also appears in the video alongside footballers and athletes including Eduardo Camavinga, Michael Essien, the Williams brothers, Odion Ighalo, Claude Makélélé, Christian Karembeu, Alex Song, Éder Militão, Asisat Oshoala and Cheslin Kolbe.
The video was directed by American filmmaker Dave Meyers and choreographed by Shay Latukolan, combining cinematic visuals with athlete-led choreography and fashion elements.
Burna Boy said the project was intended to reflect African culture and identity, while Meyers described Africa as a continent defined by diversity and cultural richness.
The release comes ahead of the AFCON 2026 Final between Morocco and Senegal, where Burna Boy is scheduled to perform at the AFCON Last Dance fan concert in Rabat.
For Everybody marks the first full release from a project Burna Boy and Sporty Group have been previewing in recent months.
Victor Wanyama is a former Kenyan international footballer who played as a midfielder and captained the Harambee Stars.
He became the first Kenyan to feature in the English Premier League and the first to score in the UEFA Champions League, netting against Barcelona in 2012 while playing for Celtic.
He later played for Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, featuring in Tottenham’s run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. Wanyama also represented Kenya at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and later played in Major League Soccer with CF Montréal.
