Detectives are investigating an incident in Chemelil, Koru, Kisumu County, where a man’s body was discovered in a water pan.

The deceased was identified as Dalmas Sana, 33, a local herdsman. Locals retrieved the body from Nyandwa Water Pan on Tuesday afternoon.

Police reported blood from the mouth and nose but said the motive for the death is still unknown.

Sana was last seen on January 11.

Authorities said there had been a brief search prior to the discovery, and the body was later moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police are continuing investigations to establish the circumstances of the death. The family had not reported him missing.

In Nyandarua County, police are investigating the death of 32-year-old Simon Mutitu in Mirangine. His body was discovered in a pit latrine on January 9.

Authorities reported that the house was locked with a padlock when a family member checked on him and subsequently found the body.

Police said the body had multiple bruises, suggesting he may have sustained injuries elsewhere before being found. The body was taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy, and investigations into the case are ongoing.

In Migori County, a 40-year-old man, Babere Ragita, died following an altercation at a house in Kegonga on January 13. Police said he sustained fatal injuries during the incident.

The body was found on a plastic chair, and the assailants reportedly fled the scene. Authorities have moved the body to a mortuary and are continuing efforts to locate the individuals involved.

Separately, police and prison authorities reported the arrest of a suspect who attempted to escape from Migori Prisons.

The suspect, who had been charged with breaking into a house with intent to commit a felony, was rearrested after prison warders fired warning shots into the air. The incident is under investigation.
