Kenyan digital content creator Shes Kemunto has announced plans to launch a paid WhatsApp dating group, revealing details of the concept through her Instagram Stories.

“I have this idea of opening a WhatsApp dating app because there’s quite a number of men in my inbox looking for partners and women looking for men,” Kemunto wrote.

She explained that the initiative was driven by consistent requests from her followers who are searching for relationships.

According to the announcement, men interested in joining the group will be charged KSh 4,000, while women will pay KSh 2,000.

Kemunto stated that the first phase of the group will be limited in size, saying, “To join I only need 20–30 men and each will pay 4k, for ladies it’s 2k.”

She added that membership would not be open to everyone, noting that participants would be selected based on specific criteria.

“I’ll be very specific with the kind of men and women I want to join the WhatsApp dating app in terms of work, financial stability, age and more,” she said.

The content creator also indicated that the pricing structure may increase in future phases of the initiative.

“The second round I’ll be charging 5k and more,” she added, suggesting that early participants would pay lower fees than those who join later.

Kemunto stated that the dating group would be launched almost immediately, emphasizing the seriousness of the plan.

“I’m not playing because I’m opening this tomorrow,” she wrote, encouraging interested individuals to act quickly.

While she did not share detailed information on how the group would be moderated or how interactions would be managed, she positioned the platform as a direct matchmaking space rather than a casual social group.

She also described the initiative as an opportunity for participants, writing, “This is your chance to get a man/woman.”
