A Nairobi-based boda boda rider has narrated how he made Sh10,000 in just five hours after being hired to ferry two passengers keen on documenting the final leg of American internet star iShowSpeed’s Kenyan tour over the weekend.
In a video shared on his TikTok account, the rider said the unusual job came his way on the last day of the YouTuber’s stay in the country.
According to him, the two passengers, whom he described as “rich kids”, wanted to follow iShowSpeed closely as he wrapped up his road trip in Nairobi.
Global online sensation iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., landed in Kenya on Sunday, January 11, drawing massive attention both online and on the ground as part of his ambitious Africa-wide livestream tour dubbed Speed Does Africa.
The boda boda rider said the experience turned out to be his most profitable single assignment to date.
“Yenyewe jana was my day. Jana nimemake ten K safi tu hivyo,” he said. (Honestly, yesterday was my day. Yesterday I made a clean Sh10,000 just like that)
He explained that the task required him to trail the streamer’s movements across the city without losing sight of him, something he credited to his motorcycle’s engine capacity.
“Kulikuwa na marich kid wawili nilikutana nao wakaniambia nifuate huyo jamaa kila mahali anaenda. Uzuri nilikuwa na Boxer yangu 150, nilikuwa na huyo jamaa bumper to bumper hadi huyo jamaa akamalizia road trip yake hapo KICC,” he said.
(There were two rich kids I met who told me to follow that guy everywhere he went. Luckily, I had my Boxer 150, so I stayed bumper to bumper with him until he finished his road trip at KICC)
After the five-hour stint, the rider said his clients paid him without hesitation, praising his commitment and riding skills.
“Hao mavijana kushuka, walinijenga 10K. Walisema, ‘Bro, you did a good job,’ wakanitumia 10K,” he said.
(When the young men alighted, they paid me Sh10,000. They said, ‘Bro, you did a good job,’ and sent me the Sh10,000)
The rider went on to publicly thank iShowSpeed, saying the streamer’s visit indirectly created an opportunity he had never experienced before.
“Thank you so much, you made my day yesterday. I made 10K in five hours, yenye sijawahi fanya. Thank you very much. Welcome to Kenya again, iShowSpeed,” he said.

IShowSpeed began his month-long African tour on December 29, 2025.
The 28-day journey across 20 countries is designed to showcase Africa’s culture, talent and natural beauty through fast-paced travel, football-related activities and high-energy fan engagement, all streamed live to a global audience and backed by major sponsors.
His arrival in Nairobi was met with huge crowds at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with similar scenes playing out at several locations he visited across the country.
The streamer’s itinerary featured a mix of entertainment, culture and community engagement.
Among the highlights were riding camels at Uhuru Park, playing basketball with youth at the Mukuru Affordable Housing Project and touring the Maasai Mara, where he participated in traditional cultural activities, including the iconic Maasai jumping dance.
During his Kenyan visit, iShowSpeed also recorded major digital milestones, surpassing the 48 million subscriber mark on YouTube.
