The meeting will reportedly consider a resolution to enter a coalition with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The move comes shortly after the ODM Central Management Committee approved the commencement of immediate coalition talks with UDA.

The upcoming UDA NEC meeting is expected to review the terms of engagement, strategic alignment, and potential policy coordination with ODM, signaling a possible reshaping of Kenya’s political landscape as parties position themselves for next year’s elections.

Observers note that formal approval by UDA will pave the way for a mega-coalition, combining the ruling party's reach with ODM's strong support base in Luo Nyanza and other regions.

Kenya Union of Clinical Officers to hold peaceful demos

Kenya Union of Clinical Officers to hold peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi from 10 am.

Procession will start from GreenPark heading to Minstry of Health headquarters then Parliament and Council of Governors to present petitions.

Clinical officers are urging Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale to sign a long-pending agreement affecting their welfare and to implement the President's directive to issue them permanent and pensionable contracts.

Last year on December 9, clinical officers held demos, and accused the ministry of delaying implementing the agreement despite having concluded negotiations and submitted the necessary documents in September 2025.

They emphasised that both the Treasury and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) had complied with the agreement, and called on the Health Ministry to do the same.

Parliamentary committees to hear stakeholders on Safaricom share sale

The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning and Select Committee on Public Debt and Privatisation will meet stakeholders over partial divestiture of the government’s shareholding in Safaricom.

The meeting will be held at Glee Hotel along Kiambu Road from 9.30 am.

Expected at the meeting are Jamii Telecommunication Ltd, Safaricom Dealers Association, Safaricom Foundation, Delloitte &Touche, Airtel Kenya, Telkom Kenya and Mwananchi (Zuku).

National Treasury CS John Mbadi on Tuesday told the joint committee the government will retain 20 per cent shares and two seats on the board.

Mbadi said the proposed sale is expected to generate approximately Sh204.3 billion.

Under the proposal, the government will sell 6,009,814,200 shares, representing 15 per cent of Safaricom, for Sh34 per share, a 23.6 per cent premium over the six-month volume-weighted average price as of December 2025.

Mbadi said the proceeds will provide seed capital for the proposed National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.
