National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday visited Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi at KIMS Health Care Management Limited in Kerala, India.
The MP is currently receiving specialised treatment.
During the visit, Dr. Nitha J, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant leading the medical team, briefed the Speaker on the MP’s condition and progress.
The doctor confirmed that MP Wanyonyi was responding well to treatment and undergoing rehabilitation under close medical supervision.
Speaker Wetang’ula conveyed his solidarity and wished the legislator a swift recovery.
He thanked the medical team, led by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant Dr. Nitha J, for their professionalism and high standards of care.
“On behalf of the National Assembly and the people of Kenya, I thanked the doctors and staff at KIMS Health for their professionalism, dedication and high standards of care. Parliament stands in solidarity with Hon. Wanyonyi and his family as he continues his recovery,” he said.
During the visit, the Speaker also held discussions with the facility’s management, led by KIMS Chairman and Managing Director Dr. M. I. Sahadulla and Assistant General Manager for Operations Ms. Subina, who briefed him on the hospital’s specialised services, advanced diagnostics and its growing reputation as a regional and international referral centre.
Wetang’ula observed that India, and Kerala in particular, has become a preferred destination for Kenyans seeking specialised medical care, citing quality services, advanced technology and relative affordability.
He added that the visit had provided insights into possible collaboration in specialist training, skills transfer, research and structured referral systems.

Upon his return to Nairobi, the Speaker said he would engage relevant parliamentary committees to explore partnerships aimed at strengthening Kenya’s healthcare capacity.
He was accompanied by Stephen Apopo and Kenya–India Deputy Head of Mission Amb. Mary Mutuku, who reaffirmed the High Commission’s continued support to Kenyans receiving medical treatment in India.
