In a statement reflecting on the tour, Miano said the content creator’s Kenyan leg of the ongoing “Speed Does Africa” tour demonstrated how the country continues to resonate with young global audiences beyond traditional tourism marketing.
“It was great to host global sensation iShowSpeed on his Speed Does Africa tour,” Miano said, noting that the reception he received reflected the country’s growing influence in digital culture.
“From the moment he landed, the energy has been unmatched, proving why Kenya is the leading hub for digital creativity and youth culture in Africa.”
IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., began his month-long African tour on December 29, 2025.
The 28-day tour is designed to showcase Africa’s culture, talent and natural beauty through fast-paced travel, football-related activities and high-energy fan engagement, all streamed live to a global audience and backed by major sponsors.
The tour began in southern Africa, with stops in South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, before heading north.

Kenya emerged as the most watched and widely discussed destinations on the itinerary. On his arrival in Nairobi, large crowds flooded Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with similar scenes repeated at several locations he visited across the country.
Fans flooded the streets and routes of his entourage to catch a glimpse of the global internet star, underscoring his reach among both young and adult audiences.
Miano said the tour offered a window into Kenya’s diversity, from everyday urban life to world-renowned natural heritage.
“From the art of cooking ugali and chapati and at the Nairobi National Park, Speed got up close with our majestic wildlife, even feeding a baby rhino he named ‘Rhinaldo,’” she said.
She added that the experience reinforced a unique national identity, describing it as “a beautiful reminder that we are the only city in the world with a National Park at its doorstep.”
The streamer’s itinerary also included recreational and community-focused activities.
Highlights of his moments in Nairobi saw him ride camels at Uhuru Park and played basketball with youth at the Mukuru Affordable Housing Project.
“Speed saw the true face of Nairobi: modern, vibrant, and incredibly welcoming,” Miano said.
Beyond the capital, the tour extended to iconic cultural and conservation sites. In the Maasai Mara, iShowSpeed engaged with local traditions, including participating in the traditional Maasai jump and observing cultural practices like drinking raw animal blood.
Miano said the visit reflected mutual respect and curiosity. He also experienced what she described as “the world’s greatest annual terrestrial wildlife migration,” a natural spectacle that continues to draw global attention to Kenya’s conservation assets.

Speed's digital impact of the visit was immediate with livestreams from Kenya shattering previous records on the tour and placing the country “at the very top of his African tour rankings.”
IShowSpeed crossed the 48-million-subscriber mark while streaming from Nairobi, further amplifying Kenya’s visibility to millions of viewers worldwide.
Miano said the significance of the visit extended beyond viral moments. “This visit has demonstrated that Kenya is not just a destination on a map; it is an immersive experience of nature, culture, and humanity,” she said.
“Speed leaves behind more than just viral clips; he leaves a powerful reminder that Kenya is not just a destination, it is the Cradle of Mankind.”
IShowSpeed, who began uploading gaming content in 2016, rose to prominence in 2021 after rage-filled clips and exaggerated reactions went viral, turning him into a global meme phenomenon.
His subscriber base surpassed one million by mid-2021 and has continued to grow rapidly since.
The streamer plans to visit about 20 African countries in total, with upcoming stops expected to include Algeria, Benin, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and Zambia, subject to travel logistics.
As Kenya positions itself to attract younger, digitally connected travelers, Miano said the message to the world remains clear: “You don’t visit Kenya, you remember it, you return to it, you wake up in it."
"Kenya is open, Kenya is safe, and Kenya is ready to welcome you," Miano concluded.
