Murder probe as body of man, 65, found in church compound in Tharaka Nithi

Detectives are investigating an incident where a 65-year-old man was found murdered in a church compound in Kathwana, Tharaka Nithi County.

The deceased was identified as Julius Mugao.

His body was found lying in a pool of blood in the church compound by congregants on January 11.

Police said the deceased was strangled.

The motive of the incident was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending investigations and autopsy.

Elsewhere in Serem, Vihiga County, one Derrick Andambi was killed in an attack.

Police said the assailants used a jembe to cut both his hands at the wrist. The motive was not established, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

Police said they were on Monday pursuing the said assailants. This was after the family of the deceased said they knew them.

In Njiru, Nairobi, a suspect was stoned to death after being accused of stealing motor vehicle spare parts.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification, police said adding they were investigating the incident.

Police said they want to establish who was behind the murder. Locals escaped the scene as police arrived to pick up the body to the mortuary.

Such incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them. Mob lynching is deemed criminal.

In Mutomo, Kitui County, one Francis Mulatya Mulwa, 60 was found dead in his compound after a suspected murder.

The body of the deceased had a deep cut on the right side of the neck with blood oozing from the injury.

The motive of the incident was not immediately established, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations and other procedures following the January 11 incident.

Police said they were pursuing leads into the murder.

In Chavakali, Vihiga County, a boda boda rider was found dead after being attacked by unknown people.

Police identified him as Rodgers Mukangula, 33 who operated in the Mudete area. His body was found on the roadside after he had been killed by unknown people.

The body had injuries in the head and lay in a pool of blood.

The rider’s motorcycle was missing from the scene, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
