President William Ruto graces Nyota business Start-up capital disbursement in Nakuru on January 9, 2026/PCSPresident William Ruto has presided over the third disbursement of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Business Start-Up Capital programme in Nakuru County.
The President reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering young people economically, regardless of their educational background or social status.
Speaking at the event on Friday, President Ruto emphasised that the NYOTA programme is designed to ensure that all youth, including those without school certificates or those who have not completed high school, have access to opportunities that can transform their lives.
He highlighted that this often-overlooked group is just as capable of contributing to economic growth and should be considered for support alongside formally educated youth.
“This programme is about creating opportunities for all young people, whether or not they have school certificates, regardless of their situation in life. No one should be left behind,” President Ruto said.
The Nakuru event marked the third county where the NYOTA funds have been disbursed, following previous distributions in Kakamega and Eldoret.

President William Ruto showcases moves during Nyota business Start-up capital disbursement event in Nakuru on January 9, 2026/PCSPresident Ruto announced plans to extend the programme to other counties, including Nyeri next week, Monday, January 12, 2026, as well as Meru, Machakos, and several additional counties in the near future.
He outlined the scale of the government’s youth empowerment drive, revealing that in the next three weeks, Sh2.5 billion will be disbursed to 100,000 young people.
"In the next three weeks, we will have disbursed Sh2.5 billion to deserving 100,000 young people, and in another 2 or 3 months, we will give them another Sh2.5 billion," he stated.
Each beneficiary receives funds through their NYOTA mobile wallets, ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution process.
President Ruto urged the youth to exercise prudence and responsibility in the use of the funds, stressing that the money should be invested in business ventures that will create sustainable income and personal growth.
The NYOTA programme is part of a broader government effort to tackle youth unemployment and stimulate entrepreneurship across the country.
The Nakuru event saw the participation of local youth groups and beneficiaries, county officials, and other stakeholders, reflecting the collaborative effort between the national government and county administrations.
