
Police in Maragua, Murang’a County, have arrested a 38-year-old man after his 10-year-old son died from injuries sustained in an alleged assault.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 6, when the boy was allegedly caned by his father for failing to attend school.
The following day, the child was found unresponsive on a mattress.
The father informed police that he attempted to wake his son without success.
Police visited the scene and moved the child’s body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
Authorities noted that corporal punishment is banned both at home and in schools.
The man remains in custody pending questioning and possible charges related to the child’s death.
In Othaya, Nyeri County, police are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was found in a banana plantation in Gatuya-ini village on the night of January 7.
According to authorities, the man’s home had been ransacked.
The body showed injuries to the head and neck.
The motive of the death has not been established.

He is expected to face murder charges.
