Applications for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) March 2026 intake are now open, with the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) inviting eligible students to apply for placement in certificate and diploma programmes offered by the institution.

In a poster released on Wednesday, KUCCPS announced that the application window will run from January 7 to January 27, 2026.

It targets candidates seeking admission to KMTC for the upcoming March intake.

The placement body said all applications must be submitted online through the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke, where applicants are required to log in using their academic credentials.

"Applications for the KMTC March 2026 intake are now open," reads the notice.

Applicants wishing to pursue certificate courses at KMTC are required to have attained a minimum mean grade of C– (minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), in addition to meeting specific cluster subject requirements depending on the programme selected.

For diploma programmes, candidates are required to have scored at least a C (plain) in KCSE, alongside the relevant cluster subject qualifications.

KMTC is one of the country’s leading public institutions for training middle-level health professionals, offering a wide range of programmes in areas such as nursing, clinical medicine, medical laboratory sciences, pharmacy, public health, nutrition and dietetics, health records and information technology, and community health.

The college operates multiple campuses across the country, making it a key pillar in Kenya’s healthcare training system.

Candidates are also encouraged to make informed choices based on their academic qualifications and career interests.

The March intake is particularly significant for students who may have missed previous admission cycles, those seeking to upgrade from certificate to diploma level, or candidates aiming to enter the health sector through mid-year admissions.

Under its mandate, KUCCPS is responsible for coordinating the placement of government-sponsored students into universities, colleges and training institutions in Kenya.

The service ensures that placements are conducted transparently, equitably and in line with national education and training priorities. Through centralised placement, KUCCPS also seeks to promote fair access to higher education and technical training opportunities.

KMTC admissions through KUCCPS are part of the broader government effort to strengthen the healthcare workforce by increasing access to standardised training and ensuring that qualified candidates are matched to accredited programmes.

As the January 27 deadline approaches, KUCCPS has urged all eligible candidates to complete their applications in time and to regularly check the portal for updates or additional guidance related to the placement process.
