Police are investigating the death of a woman whose decomposed body was discovered inside her house in the Nyangena area of Kisii Town.

According to police, the body was found on December 30 after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the house.

The woman had not been seen for several days, raising concern among residents.

Officers who broke into the house found the body of Margaret Makori lying on the floor, wrapped in a blanket and bedsheets.

Police said the body was already decomposed by the time it was discovered.

Investigators believe the woman may have died several days earlier, possibly around the Christmas period, though the exact time and cause of death have not been established.

The body was taken to a mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, including the motive.

They also said efforts are underway to trace a close family member who has not been seen since the incident, but no arrests have been made and no one has been named as a suspect.

Some neighbours told police that the woman had previously raised concerns about domestic disputes.

However, police said these claims are yet to be verified and form part of the ongoing investigation.

In a separate incident, police in Bomet County are investigating the deaths of two cousins in the Lelkatet area.

The two, aged 14 and 15, were found unresponsive in the room where they had been staying. Police said they were taken to Longisa Referral Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa said investigators are seeking to establish the nature of a substance believed to have been ingested, as well as the circumstances that led to the deaths. The motive and sequence of events remain unclear.

The bodies have been moved to the Longisa Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with residents calling for thorough investigations.

Meanwhile, police in Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a 27-year-old man was shot and seriously injured in Zimmerman.

The shooting occurred on the afternoon of December 30, 2025, inside a house where a group of people had gathered for a party.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the mouth and was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Detectives who visited the scene recovered a spent 9mm cartridge from one of the bedrooms.

Police said the tenant of the house was arrested to assist with investigations, but no charges have been announced.

Police said they are continuing investigations to establish how the shooting occurred, who was responsible, and the motive behind the incident.
