Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has reassured Kenyans that he is recovering well after recently undergoing a medical procedure.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the outspoken legislator expressed deep gratitude for the prayers, messages, and goodwill he has received from supporters across the country during his period of illness. Owino noted that the overwhelming show of concern has been a source of strength for both him and his family.
“I have received, with profound humility and heartfelt gratitude, the overwhelming concern, prayers, and messages of goodwill that have poured in regarding my health. Your compassion has been a powerful source of strength to me and my family,” Babu Owino said.
He went on to explain that, in the interest of transparency and accountability to the public, he felt it was important to share details about his health.
“In the spirit of openness and honesty that should guide all who serve the public, I wish to share that I recently underwent a medical procedure following an illness. By God’s grace, I am now on the path to recovery, and I remain hopeful and determined to resume my public duties in the New Year. I am deeply thankful for every prayer, every message, and every expression of solidarity. Your kindness has meant more to me than words can fully convey.”

As he continues his recovery, the MP extended his thoughts and prayers to Kenyans spending the festive season in hospitals, emphasizing compassion and unity during difficult times.
“I pray that God grants you healing, renewed strength, and comfort, and that your families are filled with hope during this challenging time,” he said, highlighting the importance of standing together in shared humanity.
To further encourage Kenyans, Owino cited a Bible verse from Jeremiah 30:17: “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,’ says the Lord.”
“As I heal, my heart is especially with all Kenyans who have spent this Christmas season in hospital beds, away from their loved ones. I pray that God grants you healing, renewed strength, and comfort, and that your families are filled with hope during this challenging time,” he added.
“No Kenyan should ever feel alone in suffering, and no family should be driven to despair because of illness or poverty. We must continue to stand together, bound by faith, compassion, and our shared humanity.”
Meanwhile, even as he recovers, Owino continues to command significant political influence. On Sunday, he was ranked as the most preferred Luo kingpin, according to a new poll.

An Infotrak poll released on December 28 revealed that most respondents view Babu Owino as the best successor to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Owino emerged as the favourite choice with 33 per cent support, followed by Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga at 10 per cent.
The end-of-year poll was conducted on December 19 and 20, 2025. Other leaders featured included Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga with seven per cent, Siaya Governor James Orengo with four per cent, and Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi alongside Interior PS Raymond Omolo, each receiving two per cent of the votes.
