[PHOTOS] Kisumu CBD comes alive with drift show

Kisumu’s central business district (CBD) burst into colour, noise and excitement on Saturday as hundreds of residents and visitors thronged the streets for a high-octane car drift show that took over the lakeside city as part of the ongoing Kisumu End of Year Festival (KEYFEST).

From early afternoon, crowds lined up along key streets in the CBD, cheering and waving as skilled drivers pushed their machines to the limit, sending clouds of tyre smoke into the air and the roar of revving engines echoing through the city centre.

The spectacle transformed Kisumu’s usually busy commercial hub into a motorsport arena, drawing enthusiastic applause from spectators of all ages.

The drift show, one of the headline attractions of KEYFEST, featured a series of carefully choreographed manoeuvres, with drivers executing sharp turns, controlled skids and precision spins in proximity to cheering crowds.

Each daring move was met with loud cheers, whistles and phone cameras raised high to capture the moment.

Kisumu County Executive Committee member for Tourism, Farida Salim, attended the event alongside Director Inviolete Adhiambo.
