
Detectives are investigating an incident where a night watchman was found murdered in a bar in Kutus, Kirinyaga County.
The body of Fredrick Kimotho, 50 was found lying on the floor in the bar long after his murder.
He was on duty at the bar at Kabatiro centre when he was attacked by unknown assailants on Christmas Eve, police said.
His body had strangulation marks on the neck and a scarf had been stuffed in his mouth, police said.
It was established that the deceased was also stabbed on the left thigh using a sharp object.
He was pursued in the bar and killed therein.
The motive of the murder was not known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said they are investigating the murder.
Elsewhere in Chemelil, Kisumu County, the body of a sugarcane loader was found floating on Oseng river after suspected drowning.
The victim was identified as Seladine Ochieng. He was last seen in the area on the Christmas Eve while swimming. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Ogwendhi, Suna, Migori County, a man was found killed and his body dumped in a swampy area. He was identified as Edward Ochieng, 45. He had earlier on been involved in an altercation with his neighbours over a land dispute.
A suspect in the murder later surrendered to the local police station and was detained for grilling and possible arraignment. The incident happened on the Christmas Eve, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Kiamariga, Nyeri County, the body of one Millicent Wangui Kariithi, 53 was found floating in a swamp.
The deceased's rubber shoes were found placed on the banks of the swamp and the body had an old burn wound on the face which family members present allege was as a result of falling into a fire while cooking since she was epileptic.
Additionally, the deceased had been suffering from mental instability and had been running away from her home severally, the family claimed. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said they are investigating the incident. No arrest had been made by Friday.
