The Kenya Roads Board (KRB) has invited applications for the position of Director-General.
Successful candidate will step in as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the statutory body.
The Board oversees Kenya’s road network, coordinates maintenance, rehabilitation and development funded by the Road Fund and advises the Cabinet Secretary responsible for roads.
Applicants must have at least 10 years of relevant experience, including five years in senior management.
They must hold a degree in finance, accounting, law, engineering or a related field, with a master’s degree and professional qualifications being desirable.
The Board said knowledge of the road sector, public financial management, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution is required.
KRB highlighted key competencies for the role, saying, “the ideal candidate should demonstrate visionary and transformational leadership, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills".
Further, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to foster innovation and institutional growth while ensuring integrity and transparency.
Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae, certified academic and professional certificates, National Identity Card or passport and testimonials.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original documents, including tax compliance, credit clearance, police, Higher Education Loans Board, and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission certificates.

According to KRB, the Director-General will administer the Kenya Roads Board Fund, coordinate optimal utilisation of resources and advise the CS on all matters related to the road sector.
The position also entails leading the Fuel Levy Securitisation Programme, implementing the Road Sector Investment Programme (RSIP), and overseeing the Annual Public Roads Programme (APRP) and Road Inventory and Condition Surveys.
Other responsibilities include leading the formulation and execution of policies and strategies to enhance efficiency, accountability and sustainability.
The DG will also be expected to provide leadership in KRB’s strategic planning and budgeting, manage human resources and represent the Board in national, regional, and international forums on road infrastructure and financing.
