Socialite and influencer Amber Ray has left many Kenyans wide-eyed after openly revealing how much she spends every month to maintain her lifestyle — including the hefty rent she pays for her Syokimau home.
The mother of two, who has never shied away from expressing her love for luxury and comfort, recently spoke candidly about her finances during an interview on Radio 47 with presenters Billy Miya and Mbaruk.
Her revelations quickly sparked heated discussion online, with many questioning how realistic her spending is in today’s economy.
Amber Ray’s Monthly Budget Raises Eyebrows
During the interview, Amber disclosed that her monthly budget stands at approximately KSh 1.5 million. According to her, this figure allows her to live comfortably without constantly worrying about expenses.
“My budget is around KSh 1.5 million, just to be on the safe side,” she said, prompting audible shock from the radio hosts.

The surprise did not end there. When asked how much she pays in rent for her Syokimau residence, Amber calmly revealed that she parts with KSh 350,000 every month — a figure that stunned both the presenters and listeners.
Why Amber Ray Is Comfortable Paying KSh 350k in Rent
Pressed on why she would choose to rent at such a high cost instead of building or buying a home, Amber explained that comfort and happiness were key factors in her decision.
“That’s where we’re headed — we want to build our dream house,” she said. “But as long as we’re living in Nairobi, we want to stay somewhere that makes us feel happy. You struggle to make money, so why not enjoy life?”

She added that the Syokimau home is not a permanent arrangement and that moving into their own house remains part of the long-term plan.

Inside Amber Ray’s Syokimau Home
Amber has previously given fans glimpses of her home, which sits in a neighbourhood known for modern, well-designed maisonettes.
One standout feature is her backyard kitchen garden, where she grows sukuma wiki, onions and spinach.
The garden, neatly enclosed with a white picket fence, also has chickens, giving the home a blend of luxury and homely charm.
Kenyans React: Shock, Criticism and Support
As expected, Amber’s revelations triggered a wave of reactions on social media. While some criticised the cost of her rent, others defended her philosophy of enjoying the fruits of hard work.
One user commented, “How do you pay KSh 350k rent in Syokimau?” while another added, “Buying a house would have been a better idea, but that’s just my opinion.”
Others were more supportive, with one fan saying, “I agree with her completely — life is short, enjoy it.” Another joked, “Which God do you pray to? I don’t even have Christmas money.”
How Amber’s Rent Compares to Other Celebrities
Amber’s figures have also reignited conversations around rent expectations among public figures.
Just recently, rapper Dyana Cods shared that the lowest rent she ever paid in Nairobi was KSh 40,000, a period she described as extremely difficult.

She revealed that she now considers KSh 250,000 a reasonable monthly rent, although she currently lives in a much cheaper area.
Media personality Kamene Goro has also previously disclosed that the cheapest house she ever rented in Nairobi cost KSh 55,000.
Amber Ray’s comments have once again highlighted the wide gap in lifestyles — and priorities — among Kenya’s public figures, leaving many Kenyans debating whether luxury living is worth the price.
