UDA secretary general Hassan Omar (c) with nominated MP James Wainaina during a party meeting in Eldoret on November 16, 2025/HANDOUTUDA party on Tuesday held a delegates’ meeting in Eldoret as part of preparations for its grassroots elections scheduled for early next year.
Party secretary general Hassan Omar, accompanied by Soy MP David Kiplagat and nominated MP James Wainaina, led top party officials at the meeting at the Central Primary School grounds.
During the forum, delegates raised concerns over the need to streamline party operations after a group of goons reportedly raided the venue, demanding cash from officials and stealing mobile phones and other personal items from those in attendance.
Despite the disruption, Omar and the MPs addressed the delegates, urging them to remain steadfast in the party and to focus on strengthening UDA ahead of the grassroots elections and the next general election.
“We have heard concerns from members on how to improve our operations as a party, and moving forward we will ensure we are sensitive to all issues affecting our members,” Omar said.
Kiplagat and Wainaina said the party remained strong at the grassroots, adding that members were firmly supporting President William Ruto and the broad-based government.
Later, Omar and the MPs held a separate meeting with youth and women leaders representing residents from the Mt Kenya region living in the area.
Omar urged them to continue living harmoniously with other communities and to support Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.
“No one should mislead you to follow people who are out of government and have nothing better to offer,” Omar said.
He said Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was effectively representing the Mt Kenya region and was closely working with the President, unlike other leaders whom he accused of misleading the community from outside government.
“Kindiki has firmly stood with President Ruto, and the people of Mt Kenya should not look outside government for leadership. Those shouting from outside have nothing better to offer and should be ignored at all cost,” Omar said.
The leaders said President Ruto was on course to transform the country and ensure equal opportunities for all Kenyans regardless of ethnicity.
They cited the President’s achievements and urged residents to rally behind him for a second term.
Wainaina said although UDA was working with ODM in the broad-based government, the party would continue strengthening its structures ahead of the next general election.
The leaders also urged residents to register in large numbers as voters and prepare to support Ruto for a second term so that he could complete his agenda of transforming the country into a modern nation.
