Detectives are investigating a murder after a decomposed human body was found in a forest in Thogoto, Kiambu County.

The body had been partially mauled by wild animals when it was found on Tuesday evening.

Police said they could not determine the gender at the time and noted signs that the scene was secondary.

They believe the victim was killed elsewhere and the body dumped in the forest. Both the upper and lower limbs were tied with a rope.

Meanwhile, detectives on Thursday pursued a suspect in the murder of a 28-year-old woman whose body was found lying in a room in Moiben’s Chepkanga area, Uasin Gishu County.

The suspected assailant is said to be her brother, with police suspecting the two had quarrelled over family business.

The body of Phanice Malel was found lying on a bed, with foam and blood oozing from her mouth.

Police said the alleged assailant had earlier called a relative to claim he had killed his sister on December 15, 2025.

Officers said the body did not have any visible physical injuries. It was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as police continued the hunt for the suspect.

Elsewhere in Cheptiret, Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, a man was stabbed to death in a suspected love triangle saga.

The deceased was identified as Abel Kipkemboi, 24.

Police said he had argued with another man over a woman before the assailant picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the elbow and the right side of the back, fatally.

Witnesses said the assailant was upset after the deceased and other locals abused and harassed his girlfriend. He reportedly grabbed a knife that a mango seller was using and attacked Kipkemboi during the altercation.

The kitchen knife was recovered at the scene and kept as an exhibit, police said.

A mob later descended on the suspect and started stoning him before police intervened and rescued him.

He was admitted to hospital with serious injuries, while the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the December 15 incident.

Meanwhile, police in Banisa, Mandera County, are investigating an incident in which unknown people raided Guba Mixed Secondary School and vandalised property.
