Police are investigating an incident where a gang allegedly hacked to death a night guard during a robbery at a liquor store in Kahawa West, Nairobi.

The body of Saringe ole Gee, 40, was found with deep wounds to the head hours after the incident in the Weitemere area, Kamae, police said.

A liquor store he had been guarding was broken into, and alcoholic drinks were stolen.

Police said the assailants also dismantled the security cameras and took footage that may have captured the crime.

According to police, the deceased’s right hand had been tied to his feet with two sisal ropes, and he had deep cuts on the head.

Police said there were bloodstains on the walls, ceiling and floor of the house.

His mobile phone and other valuables were found intact.

Police said alcohol and other items worth more than Sh2 million were stolen in the Wednesday incident.

The body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further procedures.

As of Thursday, police said no arrests had been made.

Elsewhere in Kibera, Nairobi County, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a garbage collection site.

Police said the man is believed to have been killed elsewhere before the body was dumped.

He was later identified as Zablon Khakuli Opula, 30.

Officers said the body had injuries to the head and right ribs.

The motive of the killing had not been established.

The body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they are pursuing a murder investigation.

Meanwhile, detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the toilet of a supermarket in Kakamega Town.

Police said the body of Sabina Moraa was discovered shortly after her death on Wednesday.

She had been supplying pesticide products to the supermarket.

Some staff stumbled upon the body and called colleagues, who attempted to assist her without success.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Ahero, Kisumu County, a man died in hospital after an attack in his compound.

Police said the incident happened in the Lela area and left Jeremiah Ogolla with serious injuries to the cheek.

He was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday, police said.

Police added that a man, identified as the deceased’s brother, was arrested in connection with the killing.
