The Supreme Court of Kenya Annual Moot Court Competition, involving 16 universities, has officially commenced.
Running from November12-14, 2025, the event forms part of the Supreme Court mentorship programme, which was launched last year to nurture and mentor budding legal minds.
The competition brings together law students from across the country, providing a platform to sharpen advocacy skills, courtroom etiquette, legal research and reasoning, drafting, and case analysis.
Participants are challenged to demonstrate mastery in both the theoretical and practical aspects of law, preparing them for future legal careers.
This year’s edition promises to be particularly engaging, tackling complex and pressing issues in international law, with a special focus on refugee and migration rights.
The theme resonates globally, reflecting urgent human rights challenges arising from conflicts around the world. It presents a critical discourse that scholars, practitioners, and defenders of human rights continue to navigate.
As with last year’s inaugural moot, which preceded the SC@12 Conference, this year’s competition serves as a prelude to the IARMJ Conference, scheduled for 17th to 21st November 2025.
The alignment between the two events is deliberate, as both focus on migration and refugee rights, creating a seamless connection between academic debate and global judicial discourse.
