Content creator and businesswoman Yvette Obura, popularly known as Mama Mueni and ex-girlfriend to Kenyan singer Bahati, has announced her engagement to Frank Otieno in an emotional post shared on Instagram.
In a heartfelt message, Yvette expressed gratitude and renewed faith in love, revealing that she has found happiness again after years of heartbreak.
Her announcement was accompanied by romantic engagement photos showing an outdoor proposal setup, complete with the words “Marry Me” lit up in bold letters, rose petals, and a cozy picnic-style arrangement.
“I said yes to the man that made me believe in love again,” Yvette wrote. “I’m letting go of past pain and failed relationships. The right one God brought my way.”
The post quickly drew attention online, attracting thousands of reactions from fans, fellow influencers, and celebrities who congratulated her on the milestone.

A Fresh Start After Years of Growth
The engagement comes after Yvette’s years-long journey of self-discovery and healing. Last year, during an interview on Massawe Japanni’s Radio Jambo show, Yvette opened up about her past relationship with Bahati and the reasons behind their separation.

She revealed that she and Bahati, who share a daughter named Mueni, parted ways after realizing they had grown apart.
“Nothing bad happened and people fall in and out of love. We got to a point where we fell out of love after Mueni was born,” she said.
When asked who fell out of love first, Yvette smiled and admitted, “I did. It gets to that point where everyone gets there.”
She added that her struggle with fame also contributed to the split. “Away from being his baby mama, I don’t like the limelight at all. I could not handle it,” she explained.
From Teenage Sweethearts to Co-Parents
Yvette and Bahati met while in high school in Huruma and started dating long before Bahati rose to fame. Their relationship eventually brought forth their daughter, Mueni.
After their separation, Yvette chose to stay out of the spotlight while Bahati’s music career grew.

Today, the two have maintained a peaceful and mature co-parenting relationship. Speaking in the same interview, Yvette described their dynamic as respectful and grounded.
“Co-parenting is amazing. It depends on the individuals. We decided nothing is going on between me and Bahati; he is married, I’m seeing someone else. Tunatoa wapi drama? Hakuna at all, we are all mature and respect iko, but it also takes God,” she said.
A Message of Faith and Renewal
In her post, Yvette credited divine timing for bringing her new partner into her life, writing that she believes “God brought the right one” her way. This spiritual reflection aligns with the theme of faith and patience that has been consistent throughout her social media journey.
As congratulatory messages continue to pour in, Yvette’s engagement stands as a symbol of resilience — a reminder that healing and happiness are possible after heartbreak.
