After months away from the spotlight, beloved actress and content creator Star Chebet best known for her role in The Real Househelps of Kawangware has made a return to social media.
Interestingly, she has reintroduced herself under her real name, Esther Chebet signaling what appears to be a new chapter in her personal and spiritual journey.
Chebet’s reappearance online comes nearly a year after her once-bustling accounts boasting over 1.2 million followers on Facebook, 428,000 on Instagram, and more than 300,000 on TikTok suddenly vanished in January.
The disappearance left fans concerned, with many wondering what could have driven the actress to retreat from the public eye.
Her previous admissions may hold the answer. In 2024, Chebet shared a series of emotional posts that offered rare insight into her struggles. She spoke candidly about battling addiction, mental health challenges, and what she described as deeply spiritual experiences that had taken a toll on her wellbeing.
“Life has been moving too fast... I’m not sure if I’ll be okay by the end of the day, but I’ve found myself in a situation I can’t easily undo,” she wrote. “In my search for peace of mind, I think I connected with the wrong energies... I made new friends who were on a completely different path, and I got involved in things I didn’t expect.”

Chebet revealed she had been pressured into silence and even initiated into what she described as a cult-like group. She shared haunting experiences of being spiritually manipulated and mentally overwhelmed moments that blurred the lines between faith, fear, and mental health.
“My mind was used to open a portal in Kericho... Some of you know I’ve been spiritually threatened and silenced,” she wrote at the time. “I could hear voices in my room, and it turns out my voice was used to channel a spirit I didn’t know... Protect your energy.”
While her confessions sparked concern among fans, they also revealed the depth of her vulnerability, a young woman trying to navigate the complexities of fame, spirituality, and healing in the public eye.
Behind her fame, Chebet has long spoken about personal pain that traces back to her childhood. Raised by a single mother after a difficult relationship with her stepfather, she has often reflected on the emotional impact of her upbringing.
“My mum came with me to her marriage. My relationship with my step-family was not easy,” she once shared. “At some point, my mum became single... Depression and anxiety came from that.
She also disclosed that her mother frequently spoke about her own mortality, a subject that haunted her for years. “Zikikosa wenyewe tunazifunga tu by end month,” Chebet once said a cryptic phrase her mother used, perhaps reflecting her deep awareness of life’s impermanence.
Now, returning as Esther Chebet, the actress seems intent on reclaiming her voice and identity. Though she has not yet issued a public statement about her comeback, her decision to use her real name may symbolize a desire to start afresh, grounded, authentic, and free from the shadows of her past.
Fans have already begun celebrating her return, expressing hope that this marks the beginning of her full recovery and creative resurgence. As one follower commented, “Welcome back, Star. We missed your light.”
