Tanzanian music sensation Diamond Platnumz has once again found himself at the heart of political discussion after restoring a campaign post in his Instagram account supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan, just days after he had deleted similar posts from his social media platforms.
The move followed her official swearing-in after being declared the winner of Tanzania’s October 29, 2025, general election.
Diamond’s Message of Support After Swearing-In
Following President Samia’s swearing-in, Diamond restored his campaign post on Instagram, featuring her photo and the CCM campaign colors.
The artist accompanied the post with a heartfelt caption praising her leadership and wisdom.

“Mama yangu @samia_suluhu_hassan Wewe ni Rais Muungwana sana, Mchapa kazi na Mwenye Busara sana... Jua kwamba ni wengi Tunaokupenda na Kuthamini Mazuri Unayoyafanya kwenye nchi yetu,” he wrote.
Diamond went on to promise his continued support, saying he and the organizations he leads would vote for Samia and her running mate, Dr. Nchimbie, to “bring further development.”
He applauded her achievements in education, health, agriculture, fishing, and infrastructure, urging her not to be discouraged by critics.
Deleted Campaign Posts Amid Deadly Protests
Diamond Platnumz, one of East Africa’s most influential artists, had earlier stunned fans by removing all his photos and videos endorsing President Samia and her party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
The purge came after violent demonstrations erupted across Tanzania following the announcement of election results, which opposition groups called fraudulent.
According to insiders close to the artist, the decision to delete the posts was a precautionary move as tensions escalated and reports emerged that supporters of CCM were being targeted.

Several videos circulated online showing mobs vandalizing property belonging to public figures and entertainers who had publicly campaigned for President Samia’s re-election.
Diamond, who had been among the most prominent celebrity supporters of the CCM campaign, had appeared at rallies and in promotional clips urging the youth to vote for Samia.
His sudden withdrawal from the political scene drew mixed reactions, with some fans supporting his caution while others accused him of succumbing to public pressure.
Samia Declared Winner in Disputed Vote
President Samia Suluhu Hassan was declared the winner of the 2025 election with 97 percent of the vote, according to Tanzania’s National Electoral Commission.
While the ruling party celebrated the landslide, human rights groups and foreign observers raised concerns about the lack of political freedom, limited opposition participation, and restrictions on the media during the electoral process.

The disputed results triggered countrywide unrest, prompting security crackdowns in several regions including Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Arusha. Dozens were reported injured as police dispersed crowds protesting what they called an “unfair election.”
Against this backdrop, many Tanzanian entertainers chose to distance themselves from politics, fea: ring retaliation or reputational damage.
