PHOTOS: Heavy rains pound Nairobi as Kenyans brave cold

Heavy rains pounded various parts of Nairobi on Wednesday morning, leaving several roads flooded and causing heavy traffic snarl-ups during rush hour.

Motorists along major highways, including Mombasa Road, Thika Superhighway, and Waiyaki Way, were caught in long traffic jams as the downpour reduced visibility and slowed movement.

Pedestrians waded through ankle-deep water in the city centre and residential estates such as South B, Donholm, and Umoja.

Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that the rains, which began on Monday, are expected to continue throughout the week, urging residents in low-lying areas to be cautious of flash floods.
