Kenyan musician Iyanii has once again set tongues wagging after revealing that he gives his girlfriend Kemunto a monthly allowance ranging betweenKSh 150,000 and KSh 200,000.
Speaking during an interview with miss_kimuyu of TV47, the “Pombe” hitmaker said he enjoys spoiling his partner and ensuring that she’s comfortable.
The singer described his giving nature as part of how he expresses love and commitment.
“I give my girlfriend an allowance. Huwa inadepend, kuna time mahitaji yake iko juu, kuna time atakuambia she doesn’t need a lot, so inaendanga ikivary — range iko 150k to 200k,” Iyanii revealed.
According to him, the amount changes depending on her needs at the time, but he’s always willing to provide for her.

A Love That Started Recently
Iyanii went public with his relationship in September 2025 when he introduced Kemunto as his girlfriend during the Mkisii Fest held on September 14. In a later interview, he disclosed that the relationship was still fresh, as the two had only been dating for about a week before going public.
Despite being in the public eye, Iyanii and Kemunto’s relationship appears grounded in mutual respect and shared values.
The singer also revealed that the couple has chosen to remain celibate until marriage, a decision that has drawn admiration from fans who view it as a sign of discipline and spiritual maturity.

Who Is Iyanii?
Iyanii, whose real name is Ian Oure, is a fast-rising Kenyan musician celebrated for his urban Afro-pop sound and relatable lyrics. Growing up in Mathare, he began pursuing music seriously around 2009, determined to use his talent as a means of expression and empowerment.
He gained nationwide recognition with his hit single “Pombe”, a song that became an instant club anthem across Kenya. Iyanii’s music blends Afro-pop with a touch of dancehall and R&B, appealing to both local and international audiences
The artist has been previously signed under Utembe World, a record label owned by Arrow Bwoy. However, he later adjusted his contract to gain more independence while maintaining a distribution partnership with the label.
“I wanted to have more creative freedom but still work with people who believe in my sound,” he explained in an earlier interview.
Balancing Love and Stardom
Despite the demands of fame, Iyanii insists that maintaining a healthy relationship remains a priority. His decision to financially support Kemunto, he says, is not about showing off but ensuring that the woman he loves feels secure and appreciated.

The revelation has sparked lively debate online, with many Kenyans weighing in on whether men should give their partners monthly allowances. But for Iyanii, it’s simply about love, respect, and generosity.
