Kenyan singer Willy Paul has once again sparked conversation online after declaring that he has no plans to ever get married.
Speaking during an interview with an entertainment journalist, the Umeme hitmaker made his stand clear when asked about his future marriage plans.
“Mi staki kuoa,” Willy Paul said firmly.
The artist went on to explain that his decision comes from observing what he describes as the “dark side” of modern relationships and marriages. According to him, too many men have fallen into depression or even taken their own lives after discovering infidelity in their marriages.

“Marriage Has Become Dangerous for Men”
Willy Paul noted that he has seen several men suffer emotionally and mentally due to unfaithful partners. He claimed that some of these men have ended up committing suicide because they could not handle the pain of betrayal.

The controversial artist added that he prefers focusing on his music career and his children rather than getting entangled in what he sees as a risky commitment.
A Shift from His Earlier Views
This declaration comes as a surprise to many fans, as Willy Paul has previously spoken about love and even shared posts hinting at relationships.
However, in recent years, the singer has kept his personal life more private and seems to have grown increasingly sceptical of long-term romantic commitments.

In the interview, he said that while he respects marriage as an institution, it is not for everyone — especially in today’s generation where, according to him, “loyalty is rare.”
Fans React
As expected, social media was quick to react to his statement. Some fans agreed with him, saying he was being realistic about modern relationships. Others, however, criticised him for generalising, arguing that not all marriages end in heartbreak or betrayal.
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) commented:
“Willy Paul might be right. The pressure and expectations in marriage today are too high.”
Another user disagreed:
“Not everyone cheats. Marriage is still beautiful when you find the right person.”
Choosing Peace Over Pressure
Willy Paul ended the interview by saying that peace of mind is more important to him than societal pressure to settle down.

Whether his statement reflects a permanent decision or simply a phase of disillusionment, Willy Paul has once again proven his knack for sparking debate both about love and the realities of modern life.
