
Nigeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, and the Democratic Republic of Congo are Africa’s most populous nations in 2025, with populations of 237.5 million, 135.5 million, 118.4 million, and 112.8 million, respectively.
According to Statista data released in June 2025, these four are the only African countries ranked among the world’s top 20 most populous nations.
Globally, the human population stands at nearly 8.2 billion and is projected to rise to about 10.3 billion by the 2080s.
