The rhythmic sounds of Benga music filled Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County today as several celebrated Kamba musicians headlined the entertainment lineup at this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
From the moment the first drumbeat echoed through the packed arena, it was clear that the day would not only honour Kenya’s heroes but also spotlight the vibrant culture of the host region. The event, presided over by President William Ruto, drew thousands of Kenyans eager to celebrate national pride and enjoy the best of Eastern Kenya’s music.
Among the performers were some of the region’s most renowned artists, whose songs have become anthems of unity, love, and resilience including famous Kamba artiste Bosco Mulwa well known for his hit song 'Mother.'
Kakongo sisters, Franco, Stella Mengele, Ndeke Ya Muthanga, Mbuvi, Justus Myello also showcased their talent at Ithookwe stadium.

Traditional troupes opened the event with electrifying folk dances and chants, followed by contemporary Kamba stars who infused modern rhythms with indigenous beats a fusion that had the crowd dancing and waving flags in the warm Kitui sun.
