Kenyan rapper Octopizzo is mourning the death of his longtime manager and close friend, Ongaya Vick, popularly known as cheekszone.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the award-winning artist described Ongaya as the creative force behind the Octopizzo brand, crediting him for believing in his music long before the fame, the awards, or the spotlight.
“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the passing of my manager and dear friend, Mr. Ongaya Vick @cheekszone,” Octopizzo wrote.
“He was the only person who saw potential in me when many, not even myself, thought this rap thing would work for us. Since 2009, he has been the creative force behind the Octopizzo brand, a visionary, mentor, and the backbone of my artistic journey.”

The rapper, whose real name is Henry Ohanga, went on to express the depth of his grief, saying the loss feels personal and devastating.
“His faith in me shaped not only my career but also the person I’ve become. Losing him feels like losing a part of myself. His loss leaves me deeply heartbroken, as I mourn not just a manager but a true confidant and big brother.”
