The Kenyan music industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of gengetone superstar Shalkido.

The former Sailors Gang member succumbed to his injuries hours after being declared brain dead by doctors at Kenyatta University Hospital, where he had been admitted to the ICU. He was involved in a serious road accident on Sunday.

Shalkido’s premature death marks a painful loss for the Kenyan music industry, especially the Gengetone community, which had embraced him as one of its pioneering voices.
