Kenyan socialite and businesswoman Vera Sidika has clarified speculation surrounding her recent cosmetic surgery, saying she underwent the procedure in the United States, not in Kenya or South Africa as rumoured.
Addressing the Claims
The speculation began after fans questioned her sudden transformation, with some suggesting she had opted for local or regional clinics.
In response, Sidika took to Instagram stories to explain her choice and dismiss the claims.
“No disrespect but why would I even wanna do it in Kenya when I have a five-year USA visa and there are surgeons in USA who’ve done over 15,000 boob surgeries with over 20 years’ experience. Show me one surgeon in Africa with this portfolio,” she wrote.

The mother of two also revealed that she deliberately kept the surgery a secret for over two months. She said she would never announce such a procedure in real time, citing both privacy concerns and cultural fears.
“If I did it in Kenya, I think they would have launched way before I healed coz y’all can never keep a secret. Even the hospital’s security alone would send tea to blogs,” she noted.
She added that in her view, ill-wishers, whom she referred to as “wachawi,” might even hope for complications during surgery, making secrecy essential until she was fully recovered.

Why She Chose the U.S.
Sidika emphasised that her decision was based on expertise and track record. She explained that the American surgeons she consulted offered reassurance through their decades of experience and thousands of successful procedures.
Her comments implied that no surgeon in Africa matched the same professional portfolio, a point that has since sparked online debate.
Public Reaction
Her remarks have drawn mixed reactions. Supporters praised her for prioritising safety and for being transparent about her choices.
Critics, however, argued that her comments appeared dismissive of African medical professionals, pointing out that the continent does have competent surgeons even if they lack the same global exposure.

This is not the first time Sidika has gone public about cosmetic procedures. In 2022, she revealed that she had reversed an earlier enhancement due to health concerns.
That disclosure also triggered widespread discussion, cementing her reputation for openness about personal matters.
By speaking out, Sidika sought to end speculation and take control of the narrative around her body. While her views continue to stir debate, she made clear that her decisions are guided by trust, privacy, and professional expertise.
