Keeping Up Appearances

Risper went on to explain how she perfected the illusion. Often, she would take cabs to look the part, but once she arrived at a certain location, she switched to a matatu for the rest of her journey.

This balancing act, she revealed, was part of the strategy to appear “rich and successful” while navigating the financial struggles of early influencer life.

Challenges Behind the Scenes

While she exuded confidence and glamour online, Risper said the reality was different. She struggled with the intense competition in the influencer industry, where only those who looked wealthy and influential seemed to get ahead.

She admitted that exaggerating her lifestyle felt like a survival tactic—an attempt to stay relevant in a fast-moving digital world where perception often mattered more than reality.
