A man was stabbed and killed in an argument with his assailant in the California area, Nairobi, police said.
The unidentified man was found dead in a pit latrine in the Motherland area moments after he had been stabbed on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Police said he was stabbed during an argument with unknown men in the area.
It is not clear what prompted the argument that turned fatal.
The assailants left the scene as the man also escaped through a bridge and sought refuge in a pit latrine.
He was scared and seeking help and ended up in a public pit latrine in the area, witnesses and police said.
He bled therein and died, police said.
Police who arrived at the scene moments later said the deceased had a stab wound in the chest.
The wound was deep and had occasioned internal bleeding, leading to death.
The body was moved to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.
Police said the hunt for the assailants is ongoing for justice in the murder.
Elsewhere in Kosele, Rachuonyo, Homabay County, police rescued a suspect from an angry mob who wanted to lynch him.
The suspect was accused of murder in Waswa village when a mob trailed him to a home where he had to hide and seek help.
Police were alerted late in the night and rushed to the scene, where they found the man hiding with a mob surrounding the house and demanding he come out or else they would burn it.
More personnel were called from Oyugis and helped to rescue the man from the scene for processing and possible prosecution for murder.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from the suspect’s house, police said.
Police have been running a campaign in the area to discourage cases of mob lynching.
This is after it emerged that mobs have been lynching suspects at an alarming rate. Up to three cases are reported daily in the country, police say.
Pundits argue this is due to a feeling of neglect by the authorities.
