For influencer and entrepreneur Murugi Munyi, losing weight has brought a new level of comfort, especially when travelling.

The content creator shared on her Instagram that she can now move around more freely and sit comfortably in airplane seats.

Murugi Munyi’s Testimony

She revealed that her decision to undergo weight loss was one of the greatest decisions she is proud of to date.

Munyi revealed this while responding to a fan who inquired how is the comfort sitting in airplane seats as compared to before.

“Gotta ask this one, now that you have lost a lot of weight, how is the comfort sitting in the airplane seats as compared to before?” the fan asked, adding, “My hips and bum get so squished by the armrest by the time of landing, I have a mark on my hips, can’t wait for the day I will fit in comfortably.”

Murugi responded, “Travel is so much more comfortable. I have a lot of room. Actually, one of the greatest benefits of weight loss is comfort. Comfort seats, in cloths, in bed, in life…just comfort.”

A Journey of Determination and Disappointment

Before her recent success, Munyi's weight loss journey was a long and difficult one. In her previous post, Munyi revealed that she had tried various methods, including hitting the gym and changing her diet.

Her efforts initially paid off, with her weight dropping from 120kg to 88kg after her third child. However, despite the significant progress, she faced a persistent problem: her lower belly fat would not go away.

This was discouraging, especially as it affected her confidence on camera.

"There are weeks that I could step on the scale after having done everything right for an entire week, only to find that I have put on a kilo".

This struggle led her to seek an alternative solution to address the stubborn belly fat.

The Decision to Undergo Liposuction

In 2022, Munyi made the bold decision to undergo liposuction. She viewed the procedure as a gift to herself for her 32nd birthday.

The procedure cost just under Ksh 600,000. For Munyi, the liposuction was not about being fixated on a number on the scale, but about feeling comfortable in her own body.

The procedure was a turning point for her self-assurance and overall well-being. She partnered with a Nairobi-based multispecialty center that offers a range of services including medical weight loss and plastic surgery, such as liposuction.

Beyond the Scale

Munyi has since adopted a new perspective, focusing on her overall well-being rather than just the number on the scale.

She has made peace with her body and its natural fluctuations, as long as it does not hinder her daily life.

"If you’ve been on a weight loss journey, then you know how slow and grueling it can be ? some days or weeks there is no progress at all and then you see a huge amount of progress all of a sudden. This is your sign not to give up on your weight loss journey.”
