Covering an area of 870 square kilometres, the park was gazetted in 1983 and forms part of Kenya’s vast network of parks and reserves.
Its dramatic landscape includes the longest lava tubes in Africa, cave systems, and unique water catchment areas feeding Mombasa.
Despite lacking permanent surface water, the park supports an array of wildlife, including elephants, zebras, elands, reedbucks, and black rhinos.
Visitors to Chyulu Hills can explore its scenic trails through hiking, camping, game viewing, picnicking, and archeological safaris. The park offers three public campsites, making it an ideal destination for both adventure and leisure.
