Kenyan content creator and musician, Father Mo (born Moses Otieno), has offered a candid look into his life. In a recent quickfire interview with kalondu, Musyimi, he shared his story, from his humble roots in Komarock to becoming a well-known personality.

Humble BeginningsMo's childhood was simple. He grew up in Komarock, where his friends gave him the nickname "Mo," which later became his famous title, "Father Mo." At 5'8", he playfully dodged a question about his age, but he was open about his school days.

Mathematics was his favorite subject, while English was his least favourite. He scored 347 marks in his KCPE exams and a C+ in KCSE before going on to study Accounting in college.

Mo's entry into the working world wasn't easy. From 2017 to 2019, he sold shoes and earned just KSh 7,000 a month. That tough experience taught him the resilience his fans admire today.

“The best advice I’ve ever received is to be consistent. It has helped me a lot. I have to put out work every time.”

Family and Fame

Family is everything to Father Mo. He revealed that the hardest moment of his life was losing his mother. However, he also spoke about the joy of being a father himself, calling it “Amazing, amazing. It’s a blessing.”

Despite his growing fame, he stays grounded. He admits to mostly contacting his manager for calls and texts and even resorting to Fuliza to get by sometimes.

When it comes to food, he loves beef but jokingly refuses to eat githeri. He also revealed that his most-used emoji is the laughing face, which reflects his lighthearted personality.

His simple advice to fans is: “Date someone helpful.”

Consistency is key to his music career. He balances creating comedy content with making music, and it’s a strategy that’s working.
