Bonfire Ventures managing director Sarah Mtalii has spoken out once again to set the record straight on rumours that she had reunited with her ex-husband, businessman Simon Kabu.

The pair, who parted ways in late 2024, shocked many when they confirmed their separation at the end of that year, publicly airing their differences before going quiet.

Sarah later appeared to have moved on, though she has never confirmed whether she is romantically involved with the lawyer she has been linked to.

Speculation over a possible reconciliation resurfaced after the former couple were seen together on a business trip for their tours and travel company.

Fans quickly assumed the two had rekindled their marriage. However, during a recent interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, Sarah dismissed the claims, stressing that they remain separated and that even her own family was unsettled by the false reports.

“Tuliachana. I told you we separated and everyone has moved on. He has moved on, I have moved on, and we are just waiting for the court to issue the certificate. People need to stop taking us back there. These bloggers are just playing with Kenyans, and that is not good,” she said.

Sarah revealed that their separation happened in May, months before the public announcement in December.

She emphasised that both of them had already moved on by the time the news broke. “Now it’s been over a year, and people are still making these claims for clickbait, which is not okay,” she added.

According to her, the rumours had even caused distress within her family. “They are playing mind games with people, and it is not good because people like my parents got high blood pressure when they heard the news. Walipigwa na butwaa. It is not okay to spread such fake news,” she said firmly, adding that if reconciliation ever happened—though she doubted it would—they would announce it themselves.

When asked whether she had found love again, Sarah simply replied, “I am okay and I am very happy.” She also assured fans that Bonfire Ventures remains strong, with both her and Simon serving as advisors while a management team oversees daily operations.

Looking Back at Her Marriage

In March 2025, Sarah gave a candid interview with TV47 where she opened up about the struggles she faced in her marriage and why it took so long to walk away.

She admitted that she stayed longer than she should have because of the pressure of being seen as a role model.

“I jumped into marriage with both legs. When things didn’t work, I felt I had to play along because I was already seen as a role model to young couples,” she explained.

Over time, however, she realised she was sacrificing her well-being to maintain appearances. “I would have died trying to inspire people and be a role model. So I said, let everyone find their own mentor. I am not going to live a double life just to appear perfect,” she added.

Shifting Views on Infidelity

Sarah had also sparked controversy in November 2024 after saying on the Hey Girl podcast with Eve Mungai that most men who cheat still love their wives.

She argued that politicians and other men in the public eye often put their wives’ names on assets, not those of their mistresses, proving where their loyalty lay.

She attributed cheating to curiosity, saying, “They are just exploring. For some, it’s a fetish.”

But a month later, in December 2024, she apologised for her comments, urging women not to remain in unfaithful marriages. “Wamama, tafadhali nawaomba mnisamehe. If things aren’t working, it’s better to leave while you still can,” she said in a heartfelt video.

Today, Sarah emphasises mental health and personal well-being over keeping up appearances, urging others not to compromise their peace of mind for the sake of image.
