Musician Kelvin Bahati has urged men to set firm boundaries with their baby mamas if they wish to maintain peace at home.
Speaking candidly during an interview with Sauti Tv, the singer said he chooses to view his baby mama, Yvette Obura, as a sister in order to protect his marriage to Diana Marua.
“If you want to live well with your baby mama, respect your wife,” he explained in a recent interview. “You cannot thirst after your baby mama and expect your wife to be at peace. When you see your baby mama, see her like your sister. That is the only thing that will help you. Anyone who has your child is a blessing, not your enemy. But it is men who are greedy.”

Bahati, who has shown support to Yvette in the past—including attending the launch of her executive barbershop—sparked mixed reactions with his remarks.
On social media, some Kenyans questioned his sincerity, suggesting his body language betrayed him.
@Willytash wrote: “Maneno unasema ni ukweli lakini facial expressions imekataa. Unacheat.” @Wendyomaga added: “Huyu alisaliti hadi Mungu.”
@Mamake Ismael alleged: “Sema unamwaga pesa kwa Mama Mueni ndio amekufichia siri zako.” Others like @C.Babu praised him: “Baby mamas floor ni yenu, mtukuze Bahati for the gentleman that he is.”

From Rift to Reconciliation
Tensions between Diana and Yvette made headlines in the past. In February 2023, Bahati publicly declared: “I have only one wife, and her name is Diana Marua. The rest is history.”
Many interpreted this as a dismissal of Yvette, who later posted glamorous photos online, subtly clapping back at the remark.
Fans flooded her page with encouragement, with one writing, “Mimi ata waseme nini… napenda Yvette.” The public rift had become more visible in November 2022 when Bahati’s daughter with Yvette, Mueni, stopped featuring in family videos.

Diana later admitted there had been a falling-out, describing Yvette as “ungrateful” in response to a fan’s question.
Bahati, however, explained that Mueni’s absence was largely due to schooling arrangements. “Her mum requested a school near her place so that she can bond more with the daughter. It’s only fair because at the end of the day, she needs to bond with her mum as much as with her sisters,” he said, stressing that he ensures all his children receive equal support.
In recent months, however, Diana and Yvette appear to have mended fences. They have been spotted warmly interacting at family events and have even posted photos together online, signalling that the once-rocky relationship has thawed.
This reconciliation has been praised by fans who see it as a step towards unity and peace for the sake of their children.
