Veteran actress Serah Teshna has clapped back at a netizen who accused her of being with celebrated footballer Victor Wanyama for his money.

The exchange began after Teshna and Wanyama shared a light-hearted video discussing Kenya’s recent CHAN campaign. Harambee Stars won three matches and drew one before being knocked out by Madagascar.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, the Igiza star suggested that financial motivation had played a crucial role.

“I think you can agree with me that the problem with Kenyan football is the money. These guys were promised a million for every win and half a million for every draw. They are performing exceptionally. True or false?” she asked.

Wanyama, seated beside her, agreed: “Somehow true. Money is everything, and motivation is very big. And nothing can motivate players more than money. We also have a world-class coach in Benny McCarthy, and you can see what it has done.”

Netizen’s jab and Teshna’s response

However, not everyone was impressed. A user identified as @Kennedy quipped, “You also followed Victor because of his money.”

Teshna wasted no time firing back. “Do not stop there, finish with… and currently living in London. Both my children are British. Launched my film and TV production. The first film from my production house premieres in October in London, in the largest cinema in the UK. You’ll probably watch it on Netflix, Canal or Amazon Prime. That money comes into my pocket. I am creating wealth, not just for myself but for generations to come. Poverty is the enemy, bro. Stay mad,” she wrote.

Her sharp retort quickly went viral, drawing admiration from fans. One user wrote: “Sema comeback ya mwaka,” while another added: “What a reply, you have left the guy paralysed.” Others called it “cooking brother Bernard” and reminded critics that “money finds money.”

Teshna and Wanyama’s love story

The couple’s journey began during Teshna’s National Youth Service (NYSC) stint in Nigeria, where she unexpectedly met Wanyama nearly a decade ago. Their romance blossomed quickly, and within months, they tied the knot.

Although they have largely kept their relationship private, the pair went public in 2021. They have since welcomed two children — their first in September 2021 and their second on October 2024.
