The issue of stunting, defined as impaired growth and development due to chronic undernutrition in early childhood, remains a significant challenge in several Kenyan counties.
Kilifi County registers the highest prevalence at 37%, indicating a substantial portion of its young population suffers from this condition.
Following closely are West Pokot at 34% and Samburu at 31%, highlighting a concentrated problem in these regions.
Meru and Kitui counties both show a prevalence of 25%.
While some areas face high rates of stunting, other counties demonstrate comparatively lower prevalences, indicating more effective nutritional outcomes.
Kirinyaga and Nairobi counties both report a stunting rate of 11%. Murang'a County follows with 10%, showing a commendable effort in combating chronic undernutrition.
Kisumu and Garissa counties share the lowest rates among this group, both at 9%.
These figures suggest that effective strategies and access to proper nutrition are making a positive impact in these regions.
