Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has shared how she managed to navigate one of the most difficult moments of her life, the release of her leaked sex tape in 2021.
Speaking to British media personality Zeze Mills in an interview published on YouTube on Friday, August 8, 2025, the All Over hitmaker recalled how the scandal unfolded at the same time she was mourning the death of her father. She described that period as the darkest chapter of her career.
“My dad died, and my sex tape was released. The only way I could survive was to not think about it,” Tiwa revealed, explaining that choosing not to dwell on the incident was key to her emotional survival.
Despite the pain, Tiwa said she was grateful for the opportunity to speak openly about her experiences, calling the interview “a blessing” for giving her space to express herself after years of personal and professional challenges.
“Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, that people still want to hear from me after all these years, feels good,” she said. “I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?”
The 45-year-old singer also reflected on her love life, admitting that what she once believed to be love in past relationships, including her marriage, was in hindsight only infatuation.
“I’ve never felt true love except with my son,” Tiwa said, adding that repeated disappointments have made her question whether romantic love is meant for her. “Maybe love isn’t for me in this lifetime.”
