Actress Marya Okoth has officially embarked on a new chapter in her life, marrying in a vibrant traditional wedding ceremony in Ugenya, Siaya County.

This significant step comes after her widely publicised breakup in September 2024 with popular comedian YY, a split that left many fans surprised.

A New Beginning After Public Breakup

Marya Okoth and comedian YY were once admired by fans for their close bond and their shared parenting of a daughter.

However, their separation in September 2024, confirmed by YY himself, took many by surprise. What followed drew even more attention: YY quickly entered a new, albeit short-lived, relationship with Noela Toywa, which lasted less than four months. Throughout this period, Marya maintained a notably low profile—until now.

In a surprising turn of events, photos of Marya’s traditional wedding recently surfaced on social media, sparking widespread excitement and joy among fans who celebrated her journey of healing and new beginnings.

She tied the knot with Okula Jack, a senior government official serving in the Ministry of Education.

A close friend of the groom, David Ochola, who was part of the groom’s team, shared heartfelt congratulations on Facebook, accompanied by photos from the ceremony.

He revealed that the celebrations had taken place across two dates: 31 May and 3 August. “We celebrate you, my brother Okula Jack,” he wrote. “Both events were top-notch. Love wins.”

The traditional wedding was a rich display of culture and vibrant colours. Marya stunned in a striking leopard-print dress paired with a feathered headpiece, while her groom wore a matching light beige outfit.

A short video clip from the event also captured the couple singing a Seventh-day Adventist hymn in church, confirming the ceremony's religious component.

Despite the widespread attention surrounding her traditional wedding, Marya has not addressed the ceremony on her social media.

Instead, she has continued to share only influencer, promotional, and advertising content, maintaining her usual online presence without directly acknowledging the nuptials.

Reflections on Regrets, Relationships, and Resilience

This new chapter for Marya follows a period of introspection and public sharing. In November 2024, she addressed fans’ lingering questions in a candid YouTube video, where she openly discussed her perspectives on regrets, the role of money in relationships, and the lessons she has learned from her experiences.

When asked about her biggest regret, Marya responded, “I don’t really move with regrets that much. Even the things that didn’t turn out the way I wanted — I treat them as lessons.”

She emphasised that constantly dwelling on the past only leads to self-doubt and negativity, highlighting a mature approach to past challenges.

Addressing speculation about her dating life at the time, Marya humorously brushed off the questions. “Do I have a boyfriend? Yoh, you guys help me answer!” she joked.
