US singer Justin Timberlake, 44, has revealed he is living with Lyme disease, a diagnosis he described as "shocking" but one that explained the "massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness" he experienced while performing.

The announcement was made on Instagram following the conclusion of his "Forget Tomorrow" world tour, which wrapped up in Turkey on Wednesday, 30th July 2025.

Timberlake shared his health battle to "shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes," acknowledging the "relentlessly debilitating" nature of the disease, both mentally and physically.

Despite considering cutting his tour short, the Cry Me A River singer ultimately decided to continue, stating that the "joy that performing brings" outweighed his physical struggles.

He expressed pride in his mental tenacity and the special moments created with fans, aiming for greater transparency about his challenges to avoid misinterpretation, especially after facing recent public criticism for some performances.

Understanding Lyme Disease:

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted to humans by infected ticks. Symptoms can vary, but common early signs include a characteristic bull's-eye rash, fever, headache, fatigue, and muscle/joint aches.

While early antibiotic treatment often leads to a quick and complete recovery, some individuals may experience persistent symptoms for years, including ongoing tiredness, aches, and loss of energy, or long-term damage to the nervous system or joints if treatment is delayed.

Timberlake's diagnosis adds him to a list of other notable figures who have publicly battled Lyme disease, including Justin Bieber, Shania Twain, and Avril Lavigne, highlighting the widespread impact of this condition.

This health revelation follows a turbulent period for the Grammy-winning solo artist and former NSYNC frontman.

In September 2024, he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired, expressing remorse and a commitment to learning from the mistake.

He has also faced significant public scrutiny following revelations about his past relationship with ex-girlfriend Britney Spears in her memoir and a separate documentary.

Married to actress Jessica Biel, Timberlake remains one of the best-selling record artists of all time, with 10 Grammy Awards to his name as a solo artist.
