DJ Evolve Incident: Babu Owino Set to Give His Full Account

Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, has announced his intention to finally provide a comprehensive account of the events that led to the shooting of Felix Orinda, popularly known as DJ Evolve, in January 2020.

The legislator stated he will narrate the full chronology of the incident before officially announcing his candidature for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Speaking candidly during a recent interview on Kameme FM, Owino expressed his readiness to share his side of the story. He noted that he had previously been unable to do so because the matter was sub judice.

“I will come specifically before I announce my candidacy to vie and I want to explain the story of DJ Evolve on what happened one by one because I was not allowed to explain because the case was in court the case is over now, I will come back I specifically want to come and explain,” Babu Owino asserted.

A Pledge of Transparency

The MP emphasized that his upcoming revelation would clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident, dispelling any notions of malice.

He firmly stated, “I will explain it very well, very good, while you are there, we want to go, we are not running, we will go slowly, even if we won’t finish, we can come next time.”

“There is nothing like malice, that I wanted to do that to my brother, there is nothing like that, it was an accident,” Owino added.

Owino indicated his detailed narrative would cover his movements on that day, "from leaving to give bursaries, going to the club, up to what happened".

He further stated that he would come "specifically before I announce my candidature" to explain the story.

Background to the Incident

The incident in question occurred on 17th January 2020, at the B Club in Kilimani, Nairobi.

DJ Evolve, a popular disc jockey, sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, which left him with severe injuries requiring extensive medical care and affecting his mobility and speech.

Babu Owino was arrested and charged with attempted murder and behaving in a disorderly manner while carrying a firearm.

The case has been closely followed by the public, drawing significant media attention due to its high-profile nature and the lasting impact on DJ Evolve's life.
