One person has died, and at least 11 others were injured after a Dreamline bus overturned along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway in Makueni County.

The accident occurred around midnight on Saturday near Kinyambu market in Kibwezi Sub-county.

According to Kibwezi Sub-county Police Commander Felista Mukunjura, the driver lost control while trying to avoid a tuk-tuk that suddenly appeared on the road.

“The bus was heading towards Mombasa from Nairobi when it was disrupted by a tuk-tuk, causing it to overturn,” Mukunjura said.

Ten of the injured were taken to Amref-Kibwezi Hospital, while one was transferred to Makindu Hospital. Police have launched investigations into the crash.
