
Detectives are investigating an incident where the body of a man was found hanged in a tree after he had been murdered in Magunga, Homa Bay County.
The motive of the murder of Jackonea Otila was not immediately established, police said of the July 22 incident.
The half-naked body of the man was found tied to a tree with sisal around his chest and hands.
Police said the body had multiple injuries on the back and face.
Neighbours said they heard commotion from the bush at night and on checking on the source, they stumbled on the body.
The locals later called the police, who picked up the body and took it to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
Police said on Wednesday that no arrest had been made in connection with the incident.
And police in Thika are investigating claims that a patient was assaulted at the Thika Level Five Hospital.
The patient was found with burns while at the hospital on July 22. This was after he was attacked and mistaken for a thief.
According to the family, the patient has been at the hospital for more than a month.
Police officers visited the hospital and found out that the patient, who had no permanent residence, had serious injuries on the upper part of his body.
It was further established that he sneaked out of the hospital ward on July 18 at around 2 pm, where he had been held due to non-payment of the hospital bill, and entered the hospital staff quarters as he attempted to jump over the perimeter wall to evade the bill.
He was seen by the staff, who raised an alarm that he was one of the thieves who had been stealing their chicken.
They thought he was fleeing and raised an alarm. The hospital employees responded and subjected him to a beating.
He sustained burns from inflammable spirit on the upper part of his body, which includes the neck, chest, stomach and back.
Police said they are investigating the incident. He was admitted to the same hospital in
stable condition
